Do all amateur fighters have to wear headgear?
- No, male amateur boxers between the ages of 19 - 40 years of age do not have to wear when competing in an amatuer bout. This was a decision that was made back in 2013 by the AIBA when they cancelled the mandatory requirement.
What do amateur boxers wear?
- Amatuer boxers, according to the AIBA, have to wear AIBA approved headgear, hand wraps and gloves that have the AIBA stamp which is now the IBA stamp. They will also wear both competition shorts and competition vests. In addition to this, they wear their own boxing boots. The whole outfit should be the colour of their corner (red or blue).
